The Algarve Gallery contains images that were photographed between 2003 and 2005 in the Algarve Portugal. There are impressive large colonies of Agave Americana growing wild near Sagress and Ponte de Piedade near Lagos.There are a few interesting specimens seen in gardens.

it may be polycantha xalapensis. 2009 and it has not yet died, new plants are emerging from between the leaf axils.

housed in a large, 30' x 80,' greenhouse maintained by Geoff Bowman. The collection is listed under the Plant Heritage Scheme
and is open by appointment to visitors. These photographs were taken during my visit in July 2011.
