Agave guatemalensis (Berger)
seemanniana

Description.

Small to medium non suckering rosettes without stem.

Thickly succulent light glaucous green to yellowish green leaves, 30-50 x 12-20 cm, ovate to broadly lanceolate or spatulate, plane to hollow-upcurved, thickened and strongly narrowed at base, the margins undulate to sharply crenate.

Dark brown to grayish brown deltoid teeth 5-10 mm long, mostly straight or some curved, on usually prominent marginal teats, dark brown to grayish brown; spine 2 to 4 cm long, subulate, very broad at base, conspicuously decurrent as a sharp ridge to upper teeth, broadly grooved above, dark brown to grayish.

Agave seemanniana is easily identified by its small compac rosettes with broad plane glaucous leaves, markedly narrowed at the base. It shows considerable variation in form and size of leaf and in leaf margins and teeth.
