Derek's Blue
Description.
A Hybrid from the late Derek Bowdery at the Eau Brink Nursery. The parentage of this one is not certain but it is believed that either macrocantha or applanata was involved.
In my collection and in the abscence of a given name , I originally labelled it up as Derek's Blue but later it was given the name Purple Star by Derek and was being sold under that name at BCSS shows in 2016.
It has distinctive cross zoning and bud printing, taking on a purple/blue hue when stressed. It does seem to offset freely at this size.
