Description.

A small to medium size agave that maintains a neat and symmetrical appearance making it suitable for pot culture.

Rosettes small, commonly forming clumps, bluish gray green. Short stem on older specimens. Leaves 25 to 35 cm long, 2.5 to 3 cm wide, linear, acuminate, rigid, radiately spreading, bluish gray glaucous, flat above, convex below, the margin straight or undulate; 3-4 mm long. Dark brown 3 to 4 mm long teeth, irregularly spaced 1 to 3 cm apart with slender cusps mostly curved from small low bases. Terminal spine 3 to 3.5 cm long, subulate, straight to sinuous, dark brown to gray, flat above, rounded below, not decurrent

Its natural habitat. is on dry sedimentary slopes in Tehuacan and Northern Oaxaca.

Agave macrocantha is a free seeding and suckering species, manifests little genetic variation.

This plant produced a few pups 2 years ago when it was pot bound. None since repotting
