Description.

Agave kerchovei is among the more robust of the Marginatae group. Medium size short stemmed agave with well-armed, openly spreading rosettes with 80-100 or more pale green or blueish leaves and up to 2 m spread at maturity. The typical form is easily distinguished by the long lance shaped well armed leaves with large variable teeth, remotely spaced and absent along the leaf apex. Closely related to A. ghiesbreghtii.

A. kerchovei ranges from central Hidalgo to southern Oaxaca at elevations between 1,400 and 1,875 m with an extended dry period from October to June. It grows on coarse-soil and steep rocky slopes.
