Description.

Rosettes small, compact, light grayish green, single rarely suckering, 25 35 cm tall. Leaves. leaves numerous, obovate to oblong, obtuse, 20-30 x 8-12 cm, the inner shiny glaucous, the outer dull gray, closely imbricate, rigid, plane to incurved, the upper teeth 8- 10 mm long, remote prominently mammillate, reddish brown to dusty gray, those from the mid-leaf to base much smaller, 3-4 mm long, 5 to 10 mm apart on nearly straight margin; spine 2.5 cm long, subulate, grayish, straight to sinuous, flat to shallowly hollowed above, roundly keeled below.

In Its native origin of Guadalajara and Mexican state of Jalisco it occupies grassy slopes of oak woodland around 1500 m elevation on volcanic rocky soils

Dry Season January to May.
