This recently described species (in Agaves del Occidente de Mexico, 2007) of Agave that was discovered near Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico at around 3300m elevation.

Solitary non suckering rosettes, stemless reaching 1.45 m in diameter, 80 cm in hight. Young leaves glossy deep green. Up to 20 Leaves at maturity, yellow-green, stiff, up to 80 cm long and 20 cm wide in the middle, concave to flat above , convex below. Margins dark brown without teeth, dark brown long thin terminal spine, 3-5 cm long.

Differs from A. bakeri by its more prominent terminal spine.

This new species belongs to the subgenus Littaea, Marginatae Gentry (1982) group and seems closely related to Agave Pelona, however, Agave Pelona has dark red flowers while the flowers of Agave. Chazaroi are creamy-white in color.

In its native Jalisco the climate is semi-arid with little annual temperature fluctuations and a dry winter when temperatures are slightly cooler.

I have found that the young leaves can scorch easily in April when they have not resumed growth when sunlight and greenhouse temperatures can increase suddenly.
